In Hindu cosmology, the Hiranyagarbha (Golden Egg or Golden Womb) floated on the primordial waters for a thousand years before splitting open to reveal Brahma, the creator god. Chinese — Pangu

In Chinese mythology, the universe began as a cosmic egg. Inside slept Pangu, a giant who slumbered for 18,000 years. When he awoke, he broke out of the egg, and the lighter parts (yang) rose to become the sky while the heavier parts (yin) sank to become the earth. Pangu's body became the mountains, rivers, and all living things. The egg here represents the undifferentiated unity that contains all opposites.

Finnish — The World Egg

In the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, the world is created from the fragments of a duck's egg. The lower half became the earth, the upper half the sky, the yolk the sun, the white the moon, and the speckles the stars. This beautiful image reminds us that even brokenness can create beauty.
